The number of Coronavirus infected patients is increasing day by day in India. Due to increasing number of cases, there is need to do more and more tests daily. By keeping this in mind the Union Ministry of Health has increased the number of testing labs in India. Earlier only Government labs were doing the tests for Coronavirus, but now the government has given permission to some private labs also to do these tests. Also the number of government labs doing tests for Covid-19 is also increased. Currently there are 136 Government labs and 56 private labs which are permitted by Indian Council of Medical Research i.e ICMR to do tests for Covid-19.
Cost of Coronavirus test in Private Labs:-
Central Government of India has ordered that the private labs can charge a maximum of Rs. 4500 for the tests of Coronavirus. Out of Rs 4500, Rs 1500 are for the screening and Rs. 3000 are for the confirmation test. You can’t go directly into private labs for test of Covid-19. To get your test done through private labs, you should either call any of the approved Lab near your or either book online through the website or app of the private lab.
Cost of Coronavirus in Government Labs:-
Coronavirus test in absolutely free in Government Labs across the country. If you have any of the symptoms related to Covid-19 then you should first consult your doctor on phone. If the doctor feels, there is need to do test, then you should call the helpline number. Your sample will be collected from home and there is no need for you to go anywhere for the sample. The Government labs which are approved by ICMR for Covid-19 test will not charge anything for the test.

Who should get tested?
Anyone who has traveled recently to the most infected countries like USA, Italy, China, Spain, Iran etc should get tested for Coronavirus. Also anyone who came into close contact with any of the Coronavirus positive person should also be tested. If someone is found Corona positive, then he/she should be quarantined for at least 14 days.
