How to Get Fastag for Defence/Army Personnel

According to the mandate of Indian Government, NHAI has made this rule that, when your vehicle crosses a toll plaza, then Fastag must be attached on the Windscreen of your vehicle. It means that Fastag has become necessary for every Vehicle. So the question is, do our Force and and Defence personnel also have to apply Fastag on their Vehicle. Because prior to Fastag, they used to cross the Toll Plazas by showing their ID cards. But after the introduction of Fastag, the NHAI gave the decision that, they will be introducting two types of Fastag.

1) One for Excempted Category
2) And the second for Non-Excempted Category

Non-Excempted Fastag:
Users can get Non-Excempted Fastag from any listed banks or other online service providers like Paytm, Airtel etc.

Excempted Fastag:
The Excempted Category Fastage will be available only from official authorities of NHAI.

NHAI has put 2 kinds of vehicles unders Excempted category. These are

1) Mechanical Vehicles
2) Official Vehicles

Mechanical Vehicles:
President of India, Prime Minisiter, MPS and total 25 dignities are placed by NHAI under Mechanical vehicle category and they are excempted to pay any fees while crossing the toll plazas across the country.

Official Category:
In Official Category, all Defence Personals under 1901 act, Paramilitary forces, State Military, Ambulance etc are included. All these type of Forces are excempted to pay fees at the toll plazas.

How to get Excempted Category Fastag:

Now the biggest question is, where to get this Excempted Category Fastag and how to apply for it. For this, the NHAI has made a procedure through which you can get your excempted Fastag by producing various documents, which we are explaining below:

The various documents that are required to apply for Excempted Category Fastag are:

• SAP Form i.e Standard Application Form
• RC of Vehicle
• Servicing Certificate
• ID Card
• Adhaar Card
• PAN Card

By filling the application form and attaching all the above mentioned documents, you have to submit them to the nearest NHAI office. After getting all the documents verified, you will get Excempted category Fastag and will not have to pay any Fees at the Toll Plazas.

But there is condition behind it and that is, you will get excempted Category Fastag only if, your vehicle is used for official purpose.

The Validiy of excempted Category Fastag is maximum 5 years.
