In order to give vehicle owners the facility of recharging the Fastag, the NPCI i.e National Payments Corporation of India has given the option to do so through BHIM UPI app. So if BHIM UPI app is installed on your mobile phone, then you can recharge your Fastag anywhere and also there is no need to wait in the long lines of toll plazas.
The purpose of NETC i.e National Electronic Toll Collection program is to handle the electronic tolling requirements of Indian vehicle owners.
The main services that it offers are:
- Countrywide toll payment solution.
- Clearing house services for settlement and dispute management.
You only need to login into the BHIM App and have to follow the below mentioned steps to recharge your Fastag through BHIM UPI. Follow this simple process and your Fastag will be recharged easily.
- Sign in to your BHIMP UPI App.
- Choose the Send Option.
- Now you will have to enter the NETC Fastag UPI ID that looks like netc.(VehicleNumber)@BankUPIHandle
- Now you have to click Verify your UPI Id.
- Add the required recharge amount.
- To authenicate the transaction, you have to enter the pin.
- Users will receive an SMS on their mobile phone which will confirm the recharge into their Fastag wallet.
The COO of NPCI Praveena Rai said, ” Their main focus is the consumer experience with NETC Fastag. She said, they are happy to announce that, the Fastag can now be recharged with BHIM UPI. This feature will give the vehicle owners an easy and secure way of recharging their Fastag and to pay hassle free at the toll plazas across the country”

For e.g. Rajan is having FASTag of HDFC bank and his vehicle number is CH01BN1234. His UPI ID will be NETC.CH01BN1234@HDFC if his vehicle number is XYZ 1234 his UPI ID will be NETC.XYZ1234@HDFC
In case you are not sure on which bank was your FASTag issued from, check the FASTag Sticker to find the bank logo / name on the top.
You can also check the SMS received from your for registration / credit of earlier transaction to your FASTag account to know your bank.
What is NPCI
NPCI i.e National Payments Corporation of India was created in 2008 for the purpose of handling retail payments and settlement system in India. NPCI was created by RBI and IBA for making a strong payment and settlement infrastructure in India. With the incorporation of NPCI, the way of making the payments in India has been changed.
